The call for papers is now closed. Thank you for your submissions!

International Researcher Meeting – Service Design in Art Management and Entertainment Economy, for researchers interested in event management and related issues, such as cultural production and tourism, management of creative projects, social media and marketing – old hands, new beginners, doctors and all those who are interested to study event management in practice.

In 2000 and onwards Service Design has been a ’hot topic’ among the researchers from different disciplines.  Because of the multidisciplinary character of the concept of Service Design we are open for various scientific perspectives of looking at the phenomenon in your research proposals. What we expect, however, is that the submissions share the joint context of interest in Art Management and Entertainment Economy.

The researcher meeting will be a part of the International Seminar Pori Jazz for Professionals 17th–19th of July 2012, which is aimed at professionals in the field of cultural production.

The meeting will offer a unique opportunity to present your research to fellow researchers and get comments from a professional panel. The seminar is an excellent opportunity to network and meet people – in the middle of the sizzling, largest Jazz festival in Europe, Pori Jazz.

Pori Jazz for Professionals – International Event Management Seminar 17th-19th July 2012

”Gimme a beer – where is the toilet”
Challenges of Service Design in Event Management

Welcome to the sixth International Event Management Summer Seminar which will be held at the University Consortium of Pori during the Pori Jazz Festival. The theme of the seminar this year is service design and its challenges in event management. We will approach this theme, not only by well-known professional speakers, but also by getting right into the core of events. Seminar’s program includes four walk-in excursions to different producing cases, SuomiAreena discussions and evening gatherings.

Keynote speakers are two-time Emmy award winner, sound designer and producer Bill Platt (Platt Design Group), consultant and cultural innovator Allan Xenius Grige (Copenhagen Arts & Culture Consult) and lecturer Marjana Johansson (University of Essex). The seminar gathers together professionals who are interested in event management: producers, entrepreneurs, educational and development organizations, as well as researchers.

An academic researcher meeting will be held on the first day of the seminar on July 17th, followed by the actual seminar on July 18th-19th.

We look forward to meeting you in July!

Oluttehdas herää henkiin – toimintakonseptin julkistus 5.4. Porin Teatterin ravintolassa klo 10

Turun yliopiston kauppakorkeakoulun Porin yksikkö toimii yhtenä toteuttajana Sibelius-Akatemian täydennyskoulutuksen koordinoimassa valtakunnallisessa JOHDE – tapahtumatuotannon johtamisosaamisen kehittäminen -hankkeessa. Hankkeen toiminnan eräänä keskeisenä tavoitteena on luoda edellytyksiä koulutuksen ja eri toimenpiteiden avulla uudelle liiketoiminnalle.

Torstaina 5.4. Porin Teatterin ravintolassa klo 10 (Hallituskatu 14, Pori) alkavassa tilaisuudessa julkaistava esitys ”Oluttehdas herää henkiin” on Porin kaupungin strategioihin, porilaisiin arvoihin ja todettuihin tarpeisiin perustuva ehdotus siitä, mitkä toiminnot parhaiten palvelisivat Porin kehittämistä pitkälle tulevaisuuteen sekä edesauttaisivat alueellista edelläkävijyyttä. Nyt julkaistavan esityksen tavoitteena on avata keskustelu Porin tulevaisuudesta ja siirtää Pori pysyvästi positiivisiin otsikoihin.

Esityksessä Oluttehtaan alueen kehittämiskeskusteluun otetaan osaa seuraavista lähtökohdista:

Esityksen tavoitteena on ottaa osaa Karhukorttelin, tarkemmin Oluttehtaan aluetta koskevaan julkiseen keskusteluun noudattaen siten jo ennalta laadittuja tulevaisuuden suuntaviivoja. Toimintakonseptiesitystä on valmisteltu erimuotoisten työryhmätyöskentelyjen avulla, joihin on osallistunut paikallisen elinkeinoelämän edustajia, yrittäjiä, kulttuurivaikuttajia ja kaupungin virkamiehiä.

Turun yliopiston kauppakorkeakoulun Porin yksikön rooli on ensisijaisesti objektiivinen tiedon tuottaja, joka aluetta kehittävän, tutkivan ja kouluttavan aseman kautta osallistuu myös yhteiskunnalliseen keskusteluun. Hanketoiminnan mahdollistamat toimenpiteet tiiviissä yhteistyössä eri sidosryhmäkumppaneiden kanssa edesauttavat siten yliopiston tehtävää alueellisessa kehitystyössä.
